To "Wander About Wilson" is to explore or stroll around the Village of Wilson, whether for leisure, sightseeing, or simply to experience the local government.
Wander About Wilson Bike Share Program Set to Launch This Summer with County Support!
Wilson, NY — Big things are rolling into Wilson this summer! Thanks to funding approved by Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey, the Wander About Wilson bike share program is officially a go — bringing free, fun, and easy biking to residents and visitors alike.
Eight bikes have already been donated by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office 🚲🚲🚲 — and you’ll start seeing them around town soon at key locations near shops, restaurants, and attractions.
“This is a simple, smart way to connect people with the best parts of Wilson,” said Legislator Godfrey. “It supports our businesses, promotes wellness, and brings new energy to the community.”
And it gets better — Wilson is also building out the Wilson Wanderway: a new bike-friendly route that connects the waterfront to the business district.
Here’s the path:
📍 Ontario St
➡️ Harbor St
➡️ Dox
➡️ McChesney
➡️ Young St
Sharrows (bike symbols) will be painted on the streets, and signs will guide the way — reminding drivers to share the road.
Mayor Greg Martin added:
“These ideas have been talked about and in planning for years — it’s exciting to get this started. Anything we can do to make the village a destination is worth doing.”
Big thanks to Greg Stevens and the Niagara River Greenway Commission for lending us the sharrow stencil — helping us make this route safer and more visible!
More to come:
✅ Custom-branded bikes with safety flags
✅ New bike racks throughout the village
✅ Local business perks for cyclists
✅ A community kickoff event with demos, giveaways, and more
