Your village water department's primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for residents, including tasks like maintenance of infrastructure, and taking quarterly water readings for the Clerk's office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sourcing & Treatment: Identifying and securing a reliable source of water.  We receive our water from Niagara County Water District.  The source of water for the district water treatment plant is the Niagara River. 
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintaining the water distribution system.
• Leak Detection & Repair: Identifying and repairing leaks in the water mains and service lines.
• Water Metering: Reading and maintaining water meters to accurately track water usage.
• Testing: Regularly testing water samples to ensure they meet quality standards and regulations.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all applicable water quality regulations and standards. (See Annual Water Quality Report below)
• Disaster Preparedness: Planning for and responding to water supply emergencies.
• Water Main Breaks: Responding to and repairing water main breaks to restore water service.
• Fire Hydrant Maintenance: Maintaining fire hydrants to ensure they are functional and available for fire suppression.
